| About sponsoring one of our Shelter Pets Below are some of our long term or special needs shelter pets. For those of you who cannot bring a pet into your home at this time we ask you to please consider sponsoring one of our long term cats or dogs. Many of our residents come to us with medical or social conditions that prolong their stay here. Any donation that you make, will help Freeport Animal Shelter provide a loving cat or dog with much needed medical care and food. Sponsorship can be a one-time donation or a monthy one. With your sponsorship we will add your name as a sponsor, and we'll also send you a special email from your sponsored pet and their photo. |

If you are looking for a beautiful Akita, well here I am! I was abandoned and
left tied to the shelter fence over 5 years ago. I am an attractive
girl who loves to swim and go for walks. I am a real rescue dog who has
been at the shelter way too long. It is really hard to have a life
behind a steel dog run cage, never knowing what it is to lounge on your
sofa. I am vet-checked, neutered, and up to date on shots. If you can help, please

Petunia
ADOPTED!
I
am such a lovely little flower that's why they named me after one! What
a hard life I had. You will not believe this story. But here goes. I
was found in the roof of the shelter!
I somehow managed to sneak into the shelter and climbed into the roof
and came down to eat and went back upstairs. When they finally found
me, I had an ulcerated eye and a cut on my head. The shelter took care
of me and gave me medication for my eye. Now, although not
ulcerated, my eye has damage to it and my vision out of this eye isn't
so good. I will at least be able to keep the eye, even if I can't see
much out of it.
I am a lovely cat who enjoys being petted and loved. I have all my shots, feline aids/leukemia negative and ready to curl up on your Sunday newspaper. Don't let my little disability turn you off. Lucy
ADOPTED Little Lucy came into the shelter with her brother Ricky. They were both "evidence" of a cruelty investigation led by the SPCA
.She is an energetic pup who is very excited to start his life again. After spending sometime at the shelter and working with a trainer she has learned how to sit, stay, and walk on her leash.
